AGOLDE Denim
After relaunching in 2014, the Los Angeles-based brand has joined the ranks of becoming part of the denim elite. AGOLDE focuses on design, detail and sustainability when crafting the perfect silhouette found in a pair of women’s jeans and continue to find inspiration from aspiring creatives and artists.
AGOLDE was originally founded in 1993 by Ron Herman and “the godfather of denim” himself, Adriano Goldschmied. The brand has continuously honoured their retro and vintage aesthetic since the 90’s and has reinterpreted youth culture from the past and future, resulting in an unwavering balance in the present.
Now owned by Jerome Dahan, founder of Citizens of Humanity, he has been able to modernise AGOLDE into the brand it is today. Dahan grew up in Paris and designed his first pair of jeans in Montreal. He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1980’s to help establish an industry for premium blue jeans. Dahan’s passion for denim as a material and an industry has led to AGOLDE’s success in investing in the future. Advanced methods are used to reduce their imprint on the environment, including laser technology, ozone machines and high-efficiency wash methods.

AGOLDE is known for incorporating specialty innovative fabrics in their denim designs. In 2015, A$AP Ferg and AGOLDE announced a denim line collaboration. In Complex’s interview with A$AP Ferg he reveals that the raw denim used for the collaboration was sourced directly from Japan. The Japanese have specialised in the art of weaving the finest raw denim and many big labels in the raw denim scene are from Japan. AGOLDE has kept a good relationship with Japan over the years for their denim to ensure their products are of paramount quality.
AGOLDE’s relaunch attracted many partnerships with high-profile brands such as Opening Ceremony, Aritizia, Citizens of Humanity and A-lister A$AP Ferg.
To keep the brand inspired, design director Erin Meehan, turns to art and regularly visits galleries and museums.
